Haiku House

Embodying the Hawaiian concept of ho‘onanea (to pass the time in ease and pleasure), Haiku House in upcountry Maui was originally built in 1860 as the estate of plantation magnate Henry P. Baldwin. Today, the 20-acre property serves as a gracious vacation rental offering guests a fully customizable experience grounded in the natural beauty of Hawaii. Hired to refresh the interiors of the 9-bedroom house, the design team preserved elements of the home’s original decor while adding carefully selected pieces of various styles and periods, giving the house a quality of having aged gracefully over time. Simple, modern furnishings and a color palette of neutral tones and rich blues respect the original architecture while offering a level of luxury modern travelers expect. Filled with vintage artifacts and Hawaiiana treasures, the house provides moments of delight and discovery at every turn.
